Lenovo Edge wifi in Ubuntu 10.10

Not so long ago, I bought this nice little laptop and installed Ubuntu 10.10 on it, but wifi wouldn’t work. It has an AMD’s Athlon Neo II with Radeon graphics and a Realtek wifi chip. Luckily, drivers do exist and can be found on Realtek’s site..

The required driver is for a chip called RTL8192CE-VA4, and here’s the link to download site

Installation steps are included in the readme file that comes with the driver!

  1. Just thought to point out, the drivers for the chip are now included with Ubuntu… Also, on F15.. so, suppose other distros now include the modules too…
